On July 10, SYP welcomed Damien Pereira, Chief Representative of the Québec Government Office in Seoul, and Andrew Lim, Research & Innovation Attaché, to its Seoul office to discuss bilateral startup collaboration and ecosystem development between South Korea and Québec, Canada.

The discussions focused on practical cooperation to support promising Korean AI, deeptech, and healthcare startups entering the Québec market. Both parties shared strategies for soft-landing programs, global Proof of Concept (PoC) collaboration, and local fundraising. They also explored structured pathways to connect Korean startups with world-renowned Québec-based innovation institutions, including Mila (Québec Artificial Intelligence Institute), IVADO, and Centech Mtl, a leading Canadian technology incubator.

Concurrently, SYP proposed a bilateral support framework designed to assist promising Québec tech startups in successfully entering the Korean market. This comprehensive commercialization roadmap covers local incorporation, soft-landing, business development (BD), fundraising, and long-term strategic growth.

The meeting was attended by the representatives from the Québec Government Office in Seoul, alongside Sungwook Hong (CEO of SYP), James Kyoungshik Shim (Co-CEO of SYP), and Dr. Shayan F. Lahiji (Director) to exchange concrete operational plans.

Building upon this constructive discussion with the Québec Government Office, SYP plans to serve as a vital bridge between the two innovation ecosystems, ensuring that outstanding startups from both regions can expand across borders and achieve tangible global scale-up milestones.
